Kularoos Plymouth Raiders have
completed the signing of their third and final foreign player,
Drew Lasker. Drew returns to the Raiders for his third
consecutive year, and is seen as a key part of the team for
the coming season.
Lasker, who originates from
Houston in Texas, was Raiders’ leading scorer last year with
an average of 18.36 points per game. This also ranked him 7th
in the BBL. He was third on the team in rebounding with an
average of 6.78, and was in the BBL’s top 9 players in steals
with 1.83 per game.
Each team in the BBL are
permitted a maximum of 3 foreign players. Raiders trio this
year have all been signed already, with DeAntoine Beasley and
Terrence Durham committing to the team in the last 2 weeks and
now being joined by Lasker.
Several other BBL clubs
approached Lasker over the summer, and as with last summer,
there was a lot of interest from Holland. But all along, there
was only one team that he wanted to play for, and earlier this
week signed for his third season in Plymouth.
“I’m honestly delighted to have
Drew back again,” said Raiders head coach Gary Stronach. “It’s
a big signing for us, I’ve now got my three foreign players
signed, and this allows me to concentrate on the rest of the
team. Drew was a big piece of the puzzle, getting him back
along with Cat who he’s played with the past 2 years and
bringing in Terrence gives us real strength at those 3 spots.”
“Last year, Drew improved
significantly from the previous season, and I’m hoping to see
that again this year. That’s all I can ask from the players,
to work hard and keep improving. He put up some great numbers
last season, and I’m really looking forward to the opportunity
to work with him again.”
Plymouth Raiders.com caught
up with Drew just after he signed his new contract with the
club and asked Drew what his goals were for this forthcoming
season. "I'm on a mission for this season both
individually and Team wise", asking Drewwhat he thought of
Carlton not being in the team this season, "Its tough, I have
allot of respect for Carlton, he is a great friend and
wonderful team mate. I respect his decisions. He
has to do what is right for himself. I don't feel the
team will be at a disadvantage with out Carlton, Terrence is a
very good player, they don't just let anyone play in the Pro B
league in France. We have allot of good players in the
team this season, we just need to move on and step up our
game."
