Kularoos Plymouth Raiders will be holding their inaugural
Annual Sportsman’s Dinner, at the Elfordleigh Hotel on
Friday 5th October and they’ve managed to attract
one of the biggest names on the after-dinner speaking
circuit - one of football’s all time hardest players and
biggest characters, Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock.
Ruddock will be joined by comedian Jimmy Bright, the
youngest ‘funny man’ ever to appear on TV’s “The Comedians”.
Bright will also run the Sports Memorabilia auction that
will be held, and there’s believed to be some fantastic
items available, from some of top sportspeople and teams.
“We’re really excited about getting this off the ground,”
said Raiders Chief Executive. “Norman Holmes from the
Raiders Supporters Club is going to run the whole event for
us, and he’s done so well putting together a great line up.
I’d encourage people to get their tickets early, because
we’ve already sold a number of tables, and that’s before the
tickets go on sale officially. The pull of Neil Ruddock at
this kind of event will be massive, he’s well known not just
by sports fans, but the public in general, having been on
shows like I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, and Stars In
Their Eyes.”
“Anyone who’s seen him on TV knows he’s got a fantastic
range of stories from his football playing days, but also
since he’s hung up his boots, and to get him to Plymouth
will be great. We’re really looking forward to it.”
The proceeds from the night will be split between the
Raiders and the Mustard Tree Macmillan Cancer Support Centre
at Derriford in Plymouth.
Briggs added “We’re still putting together the list of items
that we’ll be auctioning on the night, and we’ve been
promised some unique and very sought after things. There’ll
be some huge interest in a couple of the lots and we’re
hoping to raise a lot of money on the night.”
The Dinner is being held the night before Everton Tigers,
one of the newest teams in the professional BBL visits
Plymouth to play the Raiders. The Tigers are part of the
Everton Football Club, and are hoping to put together a very
competitive team in just their first season in the league.
Anyone interested in attending should
call Norman Holmes on 0775 393 3177 or the Raiders on 01752
222205 (info@plymouthraiders.com).
The event will be strictly black tie, and tickets cost £45
each of £425 for a table of 10. The price includes a 3
course meal. |
