Raiders go shopping at the Mall
5th September 2007

The Kularoos Plymouth Raiders will be making a guest appearance at the Drake Circus Shopping Mall on Saturday 8th September, giving the team’s fans and the general public alike the opportunity to meet the team before the first game of the season on Sunday.

The team will tip off their season in style, with the first leg of the BBL Cup Winners Cup competition at the Plymouth Pavilions on Sunday 9th September at 4pm. The Raiders won the right to participate in the game by winning the BBL Trophy in March, earlier this year.

The whole Raiders team, including the cheerleaders and Foxy will be at the mall on Saturday to say hello to fans and introduce the four new players – Terrence Durham, Anthony Martin, Brody Bishop and James Noel. The team will be giving out fixture cards and they’ll be on hand to sign autographs and have photos taken.

“It’s a great way for the team to meet their fans, and a great way to introduce the new faces to Plymouth,” said Raiders Chief Executive. “We’re really thankful to the management of Drake Circus Shopping Centre for giving us this opportunity. The players really enjoy getting out to meet people, and what better place to do it on a Saturday than in one of the busiest and best shopping venues in the South West. We’d love to see as many people stop by the Mall on Saturday and say hello to the players.”

The team will be at the mall from 11am to 2pm, and they’ll be located on the middle floor above the M & S Café.

Briggs went on to talk about the Cup Winners Cup Game. “The team are practicing hard this week in preparation for the game on Sunday. Guildford won the title last year and they’ve just got stronger and stronger over the summer. So they are really the team to catch this year. We really want to give ourselves a fighting chance in the second leg in Guildford next week, so we’ll be looking for a great team performance on Sunday. The team are still getting to know each other but practice has gone really well so far, and things are looking really good for the season ahead.”
