Sportsman's Dinner
11th October 2007

On Friday 5th October at the Elfordleigh Hotel, the inaugural Plymouth Raiders Supporters Club, Sportsman’s Dinner turned out to be a real total success, after the efforts of the Supporters Club the event managed to raise just over £6,000 for both the Mustard Tree Macmillan Cancer Support Centre and the Plymouth Raiders.

The players managed to attend the event straight from training in time to hear Neil “Razor” Ruddock giving us an amusing insight in to his time in football and latterly his TV exploits.   He was then followed by comedian Jimmy Bright, who was very hilarious.  Jimmy stayed on to watch the Raiders beat Everton Tigers at the Pavilions the following night, to which he said for his first basketball match was a excellent event.

As well as some wonderful raffle prizes, the items for auction were quite exceptional, including an Argentinean shirt signed by Diego Maradona, a Chicago Bulls shirt signed by Luol Deng and a signed Ricky Hatton boxing glove.

The Supporters Club said they are not sure on how they could improve on such an evening but if they can persuade Norm and Denise to run one next year, then they advise you to get your tickets early.
