The
Kularoos Plymouth Raiders have strengthened their relationship
with The Herald newspaper, with the announcement that the
paper have agreed to sponsor a brand new scoreboard. The new
board is state of the art, wireless and has the individual
player fouls identified on it.
“These scoreboards aren’t cheap by any means,” said Raiders
Chief Executive Dave Briggs. “So when The Herald came forward
and said they were happy to pay for one for us, we jumped at
the chance. The Herald has always been good to us, but this is
fantastic. They’ve really outdone themselves.”
It’s been a good week for The Herald and the Raiders. It
started on Monday at the newspaper’s Sports Personality of the
Year Awards, where the Raiders won Team of the Year and Head
Coach Gary Stronach won Coach of the Year. It finishes with
the unveiling of the scoreboard and Herald surround, measuring
just over 3 meters by 2 meters.
The
Herald editor Bill Martin said: "We are delighted and proud to
continue to back Plymouth Raiders. The club are flying the
flag for the city with pride in British basketball, and the
future looks very bright indeed. The Herald will, of course,
be there with Raiders every step of the way."
The new scoreboard will make things a lot easier for coaches
and players, together with fans watching the game to quickly
identify how many fouls different players are on.
“This board makes it a lot easier for the Pavilions as well,”
added Briggs. “The board uses wireless technology, so there’ll
be no need to string wires across the roof.”
