The
Kularoos Plymouth Raiders
have announced that their BBL Championship game
against Scottish Rocks on Wednesday 20th
February will see big discounts for members of the
Armed Forces in the area.
The Raiders are keen to offer members of the forces
and their families the opportunity to see one of the
most eye catching games of the season for just half
price (Adults £6 and Children £3). The discounts are
available on production of a Forces ID Card and are
also open to members of the Territorial Army and
their families.
“The Forces have a long tradition here in Plymouth,”
said Raiders Chief Executive Dave Briggs, “and we’re
really keen to give them some recognition together
with a really fun night out for the whole family.
The members and families of the Armed Forces give so
much for this country and often receive so little in
the way of thanks or appreciation. This is our small
way of paying tribute to them. On production of a
current Forces ID card at the Pavilions box office,
the service person and their family will all be
entitled to 50% discount on the price of tickets.
We’re hoping to work closely with each of the Armed
Forces in the coming year, and look forward to more
games next season where we can do something similar.
The game against the Rocks next week is set to be
one of the games of the season at the Pavilions.
Both the Raiders and the Rocks are locked together
towards the top of the table and both teams will be
looking to gain the edge to push them towards a home
draw in the end of season playoffs. Gary Stronach,
head coach of the Raiders said “Our games with the
Rocks are usually close, high scoring and exciting.
The home games between the two teams are usually the
best games of the season, so I’d encourage everyone
to get themselves along to the game.”
The game on the 20th will tip off at
7.30pm, but fans are encouraged to be at the
Plymouth Pavilions for at least 7pm to enjoy the pre
match entertainment. Tickets can be purchased from
the Pavilions Box Office on 0845 146 1460.
“We’re hoping to get a lot of fans to the game next
Wednesday, the team are really going to need the
support of the crowd,” added Briggs. “We’re
extremely fortunate in Plymouth to have some of the
best, noisiest and most
knowledgeable
fans in the country, and when the team need their
support, they’ve always got right behind us. It’s a
huge game, and with the Armed Forces discounts, we
hope it’ll be a game that we can draw a large crowd
to.”
