Kularoos Plymouth Raiders moved to within two points of the
Newcastle Eagles at the top of the BBL Championship table thanks to
a 84-93 come-from- behind victory over the BiG Storage Cheshire Jets
at the Northgate Arena on Sunday evening. In a close game
throughout, the Jets led early on thanks to eleven points in the
opening period from Matt Otten to help them to a 26-21 advantage at
the end of the first quarter.
The game remained
tight, but the Jets were able to hold onto a four point lead at
49-45 going in at the half. In the second half, the Raiders
continued to trim the deficit, but twelve points from Trey Moore for
the Jets ensured that they held onto their slender lead at 72-68
going into the final stanza.
At the start of the
fourth quarter, a three-pointer from Gavin Love sparked a 7-2
Raiders burst to break the game open and allow them to take the lead
at 74-75. The Raiders continued to dominate their opponents in the
remaining minutes outscoring the Jets 12-25 in the final stanza to
secure the all-important victory.
A combination of
Andrew Lasker, Gaylon Moore and Terrence Durham led the Raiders
scoring with 19 points each, but it was Jason Obazuaye who capped
off an impressive weekend by netting a game-high 26 points for the
Jets.
