Plymouth Raiders are delighted to of offer Danny the role of full time lead assistant and analysis to the BBL team. The decision to offer Danny this position comes in a move to strengthen the first team and build for the future. Coach James and Danny have worked as a team over the past couple of seasons and have a strong idea of what it means to compete at a high level and have a shared vision with the club of where basketball in Plymouth should be.
Danny studied sports coaching science at Worcester University and finished this year with a First Class Honours Degree. Having worked with Coach James over previous seasons he has built up numerous years of BBL coaching experience and is excited with the thought of a new project in Plymouth.
Danny said “I am extremely excited to have accepted this position and am ready to embark on this journey with the Raiders.
“The Club Directors have articulated a vision to evolve, something I am looking forward to actualise and be apart of.
“This is a unique opportunity, it comes with expectations, of which I am ready to embrace.
“Plymouth was alway’s a tough place to play, the fans are tough, their loud and relentless, I look forward to being on their side and supporting the Raiders Brand of Basketball”
Danny will join the team along side Dan Stevens who will remain as an assistant coach to the BBL team with a focus on the Plymouth Raiders Academy.
Whilst at Worcester Danny also coached the BUCS mens third and in his final season in charge lead the team to a first place finish and promotion.
Coach James welcomed the appointment, adding, “I’m really happy that the Raiders have been able to offer Danny Magee a position at the club. I’ve had Danny a long side me for the last couple of seasons at my former club and he is a very talented, intelligent up and coming young coach.
“We have worked together exceptionally well of the past couple of seasons and have an understanding of how we want the game to be played and in that, how we are going to achieve that.
“For me Danny was clear and obvious choice to have as my lead assistant coach and analyst. I want to thank the Raiders owners Richard Mollard and Ross Mackenzie for making this happen.
“It’s shows their commitment and clear understanding of putting a good team behind the team!”.
