Raiders’ season opener has added significance.

Plymouth Raiders first BBL Championship game comes with added spice this season, as the Club face Coach James’ former side, Worcester Wolves in the season opener.

The Raiders get their campaign underway with a road trip to Worcester on Friday 21st September, which will give the Worcester fans a chance to say a fond farewell to the Coach who led them for 9 years

Raiders’ open their home account on Sunday 23rd September when they welcome London Lions to the Plymouth Pavilions in the first of two visits to the South Coast, but the Lions will not be alone in the Capital this season following the recent announcement that the London City Royals have entered the league.

The new London side will visit Plymouth just the once this year, on Sunday 16th December, with Raiders travelling to Crystal Palace to take on the City Royals for the first time on 2nd March.

Raiders face the Royals away for a second time on 13th April, marking the start of five games in just two weeks in a busy season climax.  The run-in includes a tough trip to Newcastle, a home meeting with local South West rivals, Bristol Flyers, and another long road trip to Glasgow for the season’s finale.

Fans will also notice another change in the Raiders’ home scheduling with Sunday games at the Plymouth Pavilions now due to tip-off at the earlier time of 3pm.

Raiders Director, Richard Mollard said “We’ve listened a lot to feedback from many sources this past year, and one suggestion made was the possibility of starting our games on a Sunday at the earlier time of 3pm.

“We’re extremely lucky to have so many families amongst our fan base, and with a Sunday essentially a school night, we hope the earlier tip might make life easier for families who need to prepare for school the next morning.

“3pm is also a little better for those wishing to head into town for a spot of lunch before the game, so we hope this will be seen as a positive move by many fans, not just those with young families.”

Raiders will also soon be announcing pre-season plans, with fans able to catch their first glimpse of Coach James’ new side at home on Friday 14th September.

More player announcements can also be expected this week, and the club’s Early Bird season ticket offer is now only two weeks from ending, so fans wanting to reserve their favorite seat at the best possible price, while making use of this season’s new added benefits, need to act quickly to avoid disappointment.
