Plymouth Raiders face their biggest challenge of the season so far this weekend, as they welcome league leaders Newcastle Eagles to Pavilions on Sunday afternoon.
The Raiders triumphed against Leeds Force last weekend for their first win in three games, and will know they will have to be at their very best to stand any chance against of picking up points against a Newcastle team that is yet to taste defeat in the league so far this campaign.
Coach Gavin Love knows just how important it is for his team to kick on after the win against Leeds.
He said: “Its very important we string together some wins.
“We have played well in moments but haven’t been able to put together a consistent performance at the level I expect.”
As well as wanting his team to put together a run of form, Love recognises his team have scope to improve and believes that Plymouth have far more to offer than what they are showing on the court at the moment.
“We can improve in every aspect of our game,” he said.
“Execution at both ends of the floor is essential for us to succeed.
“I think its fair to say some players are not playing to their potential.”
Newcastle visit Pavilions on Sunday having only lost one game this season, a cup game against Cheshire Phoenix, and the Raiders will have to be on top of their game to get a result this weekend.
“Newcastle are the most talented team in the league,” said Love.
“You have to take them out of their flow and be flawless at the offensive end if you are going to stop them.
“If we play to our potential, then yes, we can win the game.”
Raiders announced new signing Jawad Adekoya this week and Raiders fans will be keen to see him in action in upcoming games.
Coach Love had his say on his new recruit.
“Jawad is a solid shooting guard,” he said.
“I don’t think its a secret that we haven’t been getting huge production at that spot this season.
“Jawad can contribute something different to the guys we already have.”
Fans will get their first glimpse of Adekoya on Sunday, when Plymouth Raiders entertain the Newcastle Eagles at Pavilions, tip off 4pm.
