After a convincing 94-79 win against the Cheshire Phoenix, your Plymouth Raiders return to the Pavilions this weekend as they take on the London City Royals.
Donte Nicholas’ performance against the ‘Nix earned himself a spot on this week’s BBL All-Star 5. Nicholas led the Raiders to victory with 27 points in front of a rapturous Pavilions crowd. Rashad Hassan also struck a rich vein of form as he contributed 25 points against the Cheshire side. This dominant win sees the Raiders leapfrog their opponents of last week and improves their record to 5-6.
Just as important as the victory, was the return of Josh Wilcher and Joonas Jarvelainen to the Plymouth ranks, as the season moves into week 11. The duo are being eased back into action, having been sidelined for the majority of last month through injury. Declan Soukup also returned in a limited role as he recovers from a lengthy lay-off with an ankle injury.
This weekend’s opponents were enjoying a good run of form, before coming up against local rivals London Lions last night. Plymouth will need to be especially wary of GB international Ashley Hamilton. Hamilton’s much anticipated return from injury was realised last week as he put up an impressive 24 points and 11 rebounds against the Glasgow Rocks. Alongside Hamilton is Matthew Bryan-Amaning. Bryan-Amaning signed with the Royals in August to great fanfare, having won titles in Mexico, Argentina and Japan. The 6’9 power forward is averaging 20.5 points per game and will need to be kept quiet if the Raiders are to run out victorious.
For the Raiders, home fans will be delighted to see Josh Wilcher back on the court. The ever-reliable Aussie scored 11 points on his return from injury last weekend and will be looking to improve on that tally against the Royals. With Wilcher back in the starting line-up and Donte Nicholas finding his form, the Raiders are a match for just about anyone in the BBL at this moment.
In order to reach their full potential, the Raiders will need to channel all of your festive energy this Sunday at 15:00. If you want to play a part in the Raiders last game before Christmas, find your tickets at https://www.plymouthraiders.com/tickets/.
