Weekend Preview – Manchester Giants

The Manchester Giants are this weekend’s visitors to the Pavilions.  The Giants are experiencing a mixed season so far with a 3-3 record having fallen prey to the London Lions in their last outing.

The Raiders should be full of confidence after their impressive comeback victory in Glasgow last weekend and will want to continue this run of form in front of their home fans on November 11th.  Plymouth’s last home game ended in victory as they defeated the Bristol Flyers in the first round of the BBL Cup competition.

Raiders new signing and BBL team of the week all-star Rashad Hassan put on a dominant display against the Rocks last week with 27 points and eight rebounds.  Hassan will need to be a key figure on both sides of the ball if Plymouth are to be victorious in week 7.  Speaking upon his signing, Hassan detailed his winning intentions and after last week’s performance, Raiders fans will be eager to get a glimpse of their marquee signing on home court.

For the Giants, forward Willie Clayton is undoubtedly the player to watch.  Clayton posted an impressive double-double last weekend against the Lions with 22 points and 22 rebounds.  Boasting an imposing 6’8 frame and impressive stats from his time in the NCAA Division 1, the Raiders will want to keep this Manchester Giant as quiet as possible at the Pavilions.

Manchester Captain, Callum Jones was also a standout player in the narrow loss to the Lions with 21 points and eight rebounds.  Raiders frustrated the Flyers in their recent BBL Cup game at the Pavilions, holding them to just 68 points.  Head coach Paul James will be hoping his side can be equally as stingy in this game in order to shut out the Giants playmakers.

Despite the loss to the Lions, Manchester have looked impressive on the road this season with wins coming against the Worcester Wolves, Sheffield Sharks and Surrey Scorchers.  Plymouth’s home form has been unpredictable so far this season and a partisan Pavilions crowd could play a massive part in this evenly matched contest, tickets are available via the link at the bottom of the article.
