Raiders add Bowman and Djukic

The Plymouth Raiders have added shooting guard Tre Bowman, and power forward Stefan Djukic to the roster for the remainder of the 2017/18 season.

BBL fans will remember Djukic for the role he played in winning the BBL Trophy and Playoffs with the Worcester Wolves in the 2013/14 season, where not only did the big Serbian add 7pts and 4rbs a game, but his hustle, strength and determination were a large factor in the teams successes.

Coach Love said, “I’m very pleased to have added Stefan to the squad.  We’ve lacked strength and size at times this season, and that’s something that Stefan is here to help rectify.  He’s a pure hustle guy who’s not only going to bring a different dimension to our forward line-up, but also adds experience gathered after six years as a professional across a number of different European leagues”

6’7” Djukic joins the Raiders after playing the past three seasons in the LPB in Portugal, where last season he averaged 10pts and 6rbs per game.

Joining the 29 year old Djukic is Tre Bowman, a 26 year old shooting guard from Pennsylvania, USA.  Bowman is a third year professional with an impressive resume that includes European Cup experience.

The 6’5” guard played with Siauliai in the Lithuanian LKL last season, where he averaged 10pts and 3rbs a game in domestic league competition, and more impressively, 12pts and 3.5rbs in the Euro Cup.

Coach Love said, “Tre is the experienced, athletic shooting guard that we know we’ve lacked this season, and the perfect player to join Neil in the backcourt.”

Sadly, the club also announces the departure of Nick Tomsick and Brandon Penn.

Due to ongoing injury assessments, we have made the tough decision to bring in another European forward and as a result of the league rules regarding the number of Bosman players we can have, we are sad to announce we have mutually agreed to part ways with Nick Tomsick.

We greatly appreciate Nick’s contribution to our club, and during his time here he has been a model professional.

Coach Love said, “We have been talking to Nick for a number of weeks now, and we know he’s been disappointed at the amount of minutes I’ve been able to give him”

“Nick has been a great professional on and off the court here in Plymouth, and he leaves with our best wishes”.

Speaking of Brandon’s departure, Coach Love said, “Brandon Penn has been great, one of our best players so far this season, so to let him go was a very tough choice.”

“Unfortunately, taking into account Nick’s departure too, we had to make a really tough decision to part with Brandon to allow the line-up to be tweaked to accommodate both Tre and Stefan”.

“I can’t thank Brandon enough for his effort and professionalism, he’s been great to have here and we wish him good luck with his future career”.

Fans will get their first opportunity to see Tre and Stefan in action in tonight’s BBL Trophy clash against Leicester Riders.  Tickets are still on sale at the bargain Trophy price of £7 each seat by visiting
