Raiders secure top target, Will Neighbour

The Plymouth Raiders have secured the services of top summer target, GB international, Will Neighbour.

The 6’10” forward, originally from Surrey, had a prolific NCAA I college career at University of Arkansas-Little Rock, where he became only the fifth Trojan in their history to rack up 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

The 27 year old turned professional in 2014, with stints in Spain’s LEB Gold, and in Sweden, before returning to his home town to represent fellow BBL side, Surrey Scorchers, where last season he averaged an impressive 16pts and 6rbs during his time with the Guildford based side.

Raiders’ Director, Richard Mollard said, “Will was a top target for Coach Love in the summer, and he spent some time here in the city with us, working out and getting to know the club and the area.”

“Unfortunately for us, shortly after this, Will received an offer he couldn’t refuse from a top league team in Hungary, and we therefore missed out on signing him at the time”

“However, when we recently found out Will might be available again, we jumped at the chance to add him to the roster for the second half of the season.”

“We hope Will enjoys his time with us over the next few months, as we’ve not made a secret of the fact we’d like him to form part of the foundation upon which we’d like to build for the future.”

Neighbour , a former GB under 20s player, who has also spent time training with the GB senior squad, joins the Raiders having spent the first half of the season with MAFC Budapest in the Hungarian NBIA where he posted 15pts and 5rbs a game.

Raiders’ new recruit, Will Neighbour said, “I’m very excited to be joining Plymouth for the second half of the season.  I know they have a great fan base so I’m looking forward to playing for them.

“I also think we have some real talent on the team and guys that know how to win in this league, so the sooner I can get on the court with my teammates and start finding ways to win games, the better!”

“I really think we can make 2018 good year for Plymouth.”

Coach Love said, “It’s great to have Will on board.  He fits the profile of player we want at the club for the rest of the season and beyond.  He will strengthen our front court and add versatility to our roster.”
