Raiders picked up win number seven and their second on the road this season with a close fought win against Manchester Giants.
Travelling with out the injured Will Neighbour, Raiders were looking for a win following last weeks defeat at home to Leicester Riders which saw them lift the title. A high scoring first period saw the home side hold a four point lead, 27 – 23, but a slow start to the second period from both sides saw Manchester hold a 31 – 25 lead. 17 points combined from Tre Bowman and Joonas Järveläinen pushed Raiders in front at the half with a narrow 42 – 46 lead.
A close third quarter saw Manchester tie the game after two minutes before the Raiders went on a 14 – 4 run to open up a 10 point lead. Manchester battled back but it was the visitors who held a 63 – 68 lead with 10 minutes to play. Neither side were able to take control in the final period and despite Manchester closing the gap to one point with six minutes to go, Raiders held on to take the 82 – 87 win and the 3-0 series win over Manchester this season.
Following his MVP performance against Leicester last week, Järveläinen led the scoring with 28 points and was supported by Bowman who had 23 points along with eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. Denzel Ubiaro and Stefan Djukic also scored in double figures whilst Zac Wells collected 13 rebounds.
Raiders travel to Surrey Scorchers on Sunday before another double header weekend next week with games away at Leeds and home to Cheshire.Game Stats
