Plymouth Raiders picked up their second defeat against Glasgow Rocks in a week on Friday night following a 106-86 loss.
The opening two minutes saw Raiders hold an early 3-6 advantage but that was as good as it got for the team with Glasgow putting together a 10-3 run followed by a 17-5 run to close out the quarter with a healthy 30-16 lead.
Raiders defence stepped up in the second period holding the Rocks to 16 whilst scoring 25 themselves. Tre Bowman had 11 points in the quarter on his way to 23 for the game but it was the Rocks who had a narrow 46-41 lead at the break.
A good start to the second half from the Raiders narrowed the gap to 52-49 but a 16-0 run from the home side on the way to scoring 35 points in the quarter whilst the Raiders only made 20, allowed Glasgow to stretch the lead to 81-61 with 10 minutes to play.
Raiders pulled the gap back to 14 with seven minutes remaining but strong defence from Glasgow prevented it from getting any closer. Raiders frustrations showed in the final quarter sending the Rocks to the free throw line 14 times and this is what proved the difference in the game. Raiders outscored the Rocks from field goals but Glasgow hit 24 free throws in comparison to Raiders five committing half the fouls the visitors did.
Will Neighbour led the Raiders with 24 points followed by Bowman on 23. Rocks had six players in double figures with Earl Brown leading the way on 24 along with 10 rebounds.
Raiders need to regroup now with Sheffield Sharks visiting the Pavilions on Sunday before the Rocks return to Plymouth on Sunday 11th February. Tickets for both games can be bought online from www.ticketstore.co.uk.Game Stats
