Soukup departs for rest and recovery

It is with sadness the club has to announce the departure of point guard, Declan Soukup with immediate effect.

Soukup has had a difficult first season in the BBL, one that has been plagued with various injuries, and despite the therapy and physio assistance from both Marjon and Nuffield Health, he has struggled to maintain a consistent level of fitness.

Therefore, at Declan’s request, the Club have agree to release him so he can return home to Australia for an extended rest and rehabilitation period.

Coach Paul James said, “We’re sad to see Declan leave us, he’s worked hard over the season despite having to deal with injuries.

“We wish him all the best with his further rehab, and hope to see him back playing again soon”.

Soukup added “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved with the Raiders’ programme, for making these last 6 months a truly invaluable experience.

“I wish the club, the fans and everyone associated nothing but the best, thank you!”

Raiders will be back in BBL home action against the Surrey Scorchers on Sunday March 3rd at 3pm.  Tickets are available at www.plymouthraiders.com.
