New Coach

What better way to head into the weekend than revealing your new Plymouth Raiders Head Coach - Gareth Laws. So, let's give him a huge welcome back!!!

The former player returning to Raiders, now as Head Coach, Gareth said; “I am incredibly excited and honoured to be named as the Plymouth Raiders Head Coach, It is a dream come true to have the opportunity to lead this remarkable and prestigious team and contribute to the rich legacy of the club.”

“I have been involved in the game of basketball for 32 years now, the Raiders has always been an integral part of British basketball history and I want to express my deepest gratitude to the club, especially Ross Mackenzie for the hard work that’s been put into bringing the Raiders back and placing his trust in me.”

“I'm humbled to have the opportunity to once again represent the Raiders, my years at the club under Coach Gary Stronach taught me a great deal about coaching, attitude, determination and sacrifice to achieve our goals and team success. Combined with my passion, knowledge, and experience, both on the side lines and on the court I'm excited to deliver a style of basketball people will want to watch and help to drive the team forward and ultimately towards success and regain a dominant presence within the basketball community and help create a new Raiders legacy the city of Plymouth can be proud of.”

“What a fitting way for the Raiders to re-enter the National League scene, right back where it all started 40 years ago in the Mayflower Centre, and although the scenery has changed the team values, intentions and ambitions still set the standards for us all to strive for.”

“I would like to acknowledge all the previous coaching legends that patrolled the side-lines though the years, I understand and embrace in its entirety the work and success that came before me and I embrace the responsibilities, not only to the club and the future players but to the fans who have blessed the Raiders stands for all the years and who will continue to passionately support us. Your energy and enthusiasm, fuel our determination to succeed. Let's create more unforgettable memories together and make the Raiders community proud!”

“Now the work begins, so get ready Plymouth! The Raiders are set to make waves, and I can’t wait to lead this incredible team. Let's embrace the challenges, push boundaries, and create a legacy that will be remembered!”

“Go Raiders!”

Ross Mackenzie added; “I'm delighted that we've been able to secure Gareth as our Head Coach for the new look Raiders team. He's got a wealth of experience right across the basketball landscape at every level, and he's well known to basketball and Raiders fans. He's one of our own, and as we're embarking on our new journey to create a sustainable basketball club, Gareth fits perfectly as we move the dial forward in every department, such as our new venue which you will have seen in recent weeks.”

“That in itself, a really big deal for those who've grown weary of the lack of stability and unfulfilled promises of the past. Self determination and a new enthusiasm will be at the heart of everything we do and Gareth will lead us forward with a new group and we'll do our utmost to put a smile back on your face while doing it. We'll see you on court soon!”
