Former University of Plymouth student Alfonso Gonzalez De Heredia joins Raiders ahead of the 2023-24 NBL Division 3 season.
Alfonso has been playing basketball since aged 12 as part of multiple teams in Madrid before moving to the UK at 18 and spending the past five years studying at the University of Plymouth and playing for their BUCS Western Tier 3 team.
On signing his second player for the new look Raiders roster, Head Coach Gareth Laws said “Alfonso brings a great skill set to the team with excellent composure and maturity to his game that’s not often seen at his age.”
“Combine this with his positive attitude and tireless work ethic, he’s set to be an integral part of the team as we strive for great things this season.”
Ahead of joining Raiders Alfonso said “I have finished uni this year so the opportunity to play for Raiders comes at the perfect moment for me.”
“I played against Raiders Academy in 2019 and it was an amazing experience to play against the academy of a professional team.”
“It is an honour to be part of the team this year.”
“The goal for this season and for the following years was made very clear in the trials, get the Raiders back where they belong.”
