Portugal born Gonçalo Argel joins Plymouth Raiders ahead of the new NBL Division 3 season. Gonçalo learned his trade in his home country winning local and national championships and winning the Portuguese university national championship. Last season the 6ft guard played for Exeter Spartans so has proven experience in the Division 3 competition.


Commenting on his newest signing Head coach Gareth Laws said “Known to his team mates as G, our floor general brings leadership, composure and a great IQ to the Raiders.”


“His great skill set in ball handling and shooting are complimented with his exceptional passing ability.”


“You always have to keep your eyes on the ball when G is around and expect the unexpected pass.”


“He has a proven track record in D3, being one of the best if not the best point guards in the league last year and we are privileged to have him on board for the 2023/24 season.”

“He will not only help our team win but provide an exceptional mentor for our younger PGs to learn from.”


Ahead of linking up with Raiders for the new season Gonçalo added “It is a privilege to represent a legendary club such as Plymouth Raiders this next season.”


“I will bring my experience, energy and camaraderie on and off the court.”


“My main goals for this next season are: develop as a player, help others improve and win the league.”
